Teaching Philosophy
I view teaching and learning as collaborative, engaging, and evolving processes. At the center of my teaching philosophy is the creation of a supportive, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment where students feel comfortable participating, experimenting with language, asking questions, and expressing their ideas.
I recognize that students bring different linguistic, cultural, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds to the classroom. I therefore adapt instruction to learners’ strengths, needs, and goals while designing meaningful opportunities for interaction, collaboration, and independent learning. My teaching incorporates task-based, project-based, and corpus-informed approaches, with an emphasis on connecting learning to authentic academic, professional, and real-world contexts.
Technology is an integral part of my pedagogy. I use digital and multimedia tools to increase accessibility, interaction, and learner autonomy across in-person, online, and hybrid environments. My recent teaching also explores the responsible integration of generative AI and emerging technologies, helping students use these tools critically, ethically, and purposefully rather than simply relying on them for answers.
Ultimately, my goal is to create learning experiences that are meaningful, accessible, and empowering, while helping students develop the knowledge, confidence, and strategies they need to become increasingly independent learners.
